Domestic animals probably raise the most widespread sympathy for carkilled animals. Carkill is probably the #1 cause of death of household pets who venture outside. These creatures are just a few of those I've found on my bike ride to work -- but as you can see in the first series, these animals are removed very rapidly from areas where people are likely to see them.

Cat Cat

This cat was torn to pieces by a passing car on this brief stretch of Glen Canyon Rd. right before it meets Mt. Hermon Rd. The animal was picked up within minutes of my spotting it (at about 10AM) by these Scotts Valley city employees.

This cat was on Mt. Hermon Rd. right by Hwy 17. It had dried out substantially in the several weeks it had been there before this photo was taken.

Dog

Man's best friend's best friend is clearly not man. I found this dog on a bike ride on Branciforte Rd. in Santa Cruz County. A mile later I found a sign from a worried owner looking for this lost pet. I had the sad job of notifying them of their dog's whereabouts.
